It also depends on what level you are quitting. There is a big difference between quitting as a bank clerk which is much easier and less painful and a head of a function. Successful bankers have mastered the art of sharpening their skills and experience by moving in and out of other banks. Then coming back bigger and better. It gives one a chance to re-negotiate better perks and terms.
