READ THIS ISH OR GET SENT TO PERGATORY 🧛🏾‍♀️ I’ve seen a lot of conversations lately about overloads, the cost of products, and how much CleanTok seems to have changed. ANDDDDD before anyone gets defensive, I don’t think CleanTokers are the villains. I think we’re addicted to consumption. Americans make up about 4% of the world’s population but consume close to 17% of global goods. The average U.S. home holds over 300,000 items. We throw away roughly 12% of the food we buy and billions of pounds of plastic packaging every year. Retail sales top $7 trillion annually. We are not a “squeezing community” We are a consumer community. The algorithm doesn’t reward restraint. It rewards spectacle. If one scoop performs well, five scoops perform better. If one bottle gets views, an entire bottle dumped at once gets virality. And we scroll. And we double tap. And we ask, “What scent is that?” instead of “Why do we need this much?” Nothing is ever enough because the system profits when we believe it isn’t. And the uncomfortable truth? We participate in it. All of us. Me included. These are just thoughts I’ve had while I’ve been on my little pregnancy vacation. I’ve mostly been quiet, watching from the sidelines and hanging out in the shadows like the weird little vampire that I am. Take everything I say with a grain of salt because I’m not blaming anyone. I just think people need to recognize that this is the world we live in right now. If you want to do OG combos, do them. No one is stopping you, and people still love them. But people also love overloads, pools, totes… it is what it is. . . . . . . . . . #paste #suds #laundrypaste #asmrspongesqueezing #cleantoks
