How I Spent My First £55k Salary Payday! 💰 I’ve just recently started a new role and I’ve had my first full month on my new salary. This month was all about adjusting to my new salary and making sure my pension is working hard and that I am prioritising investments and paying off debt while preparing for our growing family. Here’s how I broke it down: ✅ Pension contributions: Upped to 7% to save £1,500 per year in tax as I will now be a higher rate tax payer and don’t want to lose much of my salary to paying tax at 40%. 💵 Take-home pay: £3,049 after pension, tax, NI, and student loan deductions. 🚗 Fuel: £175 per month for my 80-mile round-trip commute. I had £79.38 left over and this went straight into our cash ISA to repay my £1,200 car repair debt that I borrowed from our savings. 💻 Debt repayments: £150/month toward my MacBook. Again, I borrowed this from our savings and have been paying it back each month. This payment will shift toward repaying my car repair debt once finished. 🏡 Joint bills: £2,348.51 transferred to cover everything from groceries to utilities. 📈 Investments & savings: We’re pushing hard while both working full-time, investing £1,000 per month and saving £440 this month. We use zero-based budgeting to ensure every penny is allocated 📝 ✨ If you’re looking for a simple way to track your spending and take control of your finances, I’ve been using my own budgeting template to stay on track. 💵 Comment “Budget” below if you’d like me to send you the link! #Budgeting #PersonalFinance #ZeroBasedBudgeting #SavingsGoals #InvestingForTheFuture #FinancialFreedom #PaydayBreakdown #MoneyManagement
