@sheltie_fidget: How do we pass people when we’re out hiking? Easy — teamwork, training, and a whole lot of side-step practice. When we’re on the trails, Fidget and Violence are off-leash because they have rock-solid, reliable recalls. They know their commands, they listen every time, and they can be trusted to explore safely without wandering off. Talladega also knows his recalls and commands… he just likes to pretend he didn’t hear them the first three times. Selective hearing at its finest. So he gets the longer leash, because safety always comes first. Regardless of who’s leashed or not, all three dogs are trained to respond to a “side” cue — meaning they come right to me and pull off to the side to sit or wait while people pass. In this clip, I already had Vi “air-jailed” because she decided Dega was her sheep for the day, and she needed a quick factory reset moment. (And for the record, Dega loves being herded… I just don’t love being dragged by the “sheep” I’m attached to.) So here we are: Violence in my hand, Fidget sitting in front of me, and Dega standing right by my side. Every single one of them — except Vi in this moment — could take off running if they wanted to. But they don’t, because reliable recalls and strong trail manners matter. Off-leash freedom is a privilege, and they’ve worked hard to earn it. #servicedog #Hiking #southmountainreservation #viral #dogs
