Apparently, Chara was being bullied by people. A child of about 10 years old couldn't just hate people, if they didn't do anything to this child. We can only guess, but I think it's quite logical. Chara, although not a fully developed character, but if you really try to dig for information, you can learn at least something about him from small pieces. Chara wasn't the best person, but he wasn't the worst, and above all, Chara was a child.
