As a death care worker and mortuary student, the rise of women in my industry has me hopeful. 🖤 Women DON’T fear death. I mean, historically, WOMEN were the layers out, the dressers, the anointers of the deceased- men quite literally STOLE that honor from us during the Victorian age, claiming we “couldn’t handle blood” or “the carnage” of the autopsy rooms. As if our ability to give and bear life meant/means nothing. As if blood and pain isn’t the actual BIRTHRIGHT of anyone possessing a uterus. The loss has been infuriating and disheartening and patronizing beyond belief, but after hundreds of years, we’re finally taking it back. Just like we will with everything else. 🙂↕️

Orca pods operate on matriarchy. Coincidentally, humans, orcas and a few other whale species, are the only species known to go through menopause. Orcas are feared and respected in the ocean. We need more women in charge.
