@eatsimpli: What does it take to harvest salt by hand? 🧂✨ We journeyed into the heart of the Maras Salt Mines located high up in the Andes Mountains of Peru, where centuries-old traditions of harvesting salt by hand are still practiced today by family-owned co-ops. ⛰️ From walking the stunning, expansive landscapes of the salt mines to meeting Yolanda Acurio Mendoza, the producer of @eatsimpli salt, this experience was nothing short of magical. With the @culinarydiplomacyproject we had the rare opportunity to get a hands-on experience and harvest salt straight from these ancient salt ponds, learning firsthand about the tradition and care that goes into harvesting each crystal.
