warning up the stove slowly can help. I like telling myself, "I can just do 5 dishes" and then i end up doing half of them or more because I startedthe scary thing.

out of context, "remove all unnecessary stoves" is a very funny statement

Wow this makes so much sense 😩😩 I’ve been gentle parenting myself this whole year thinking I needed “the rest,” & to avoid “cortisol spikes,” but now EVERYTHING feels like a hot stove. EVERYTHING. This video made me cry bc I haven’t understood recently WHY everything has felt like a hot stove.. just even getting out of bed feels like a hot stove. I’m recently diagnosed with ADHD (even tho I felt it my whole life) AND “medicated,” on a high dose. In the last 2 months it’s felt like I’m taking sugar pills.. but then it came out that some have been recalled so I just don’t know what to do anymore

And then you have the people that tell you "hey, the stove is hot, DO NOT touch it!" and then I do. This helps with some of my more mundane tasks, having someone tell me, unprompted, to absolutely not do said task. My mind defiantly tells me "they're not your mom!" (not that I listened to her either....) and I suddenly desire to do that task.

67 years of being neurodivergent. My hack is asking is this something I really want to have happen. Like do I really care whether the laundry comes out of the washer yeah I actually do because it stinks and I care about stinky things. Sometimes prevention is a good motivator too.

nice. Also There's a part of the brain that literally grows the more we convince ourselves to do difficult stuff and the bigger it is the easier it gets to do harder stuff. It's called the anterior mid-cingulate cortex (aMCC) and it can be suggested it's the source of will power and maybe to some extent the source of our will to live. David Goggins probably has an aMCC the size of an elephant 😅

Another tip I've learned is that the right tool can really make that task less daunting. AKA touching the hot stove doesn't seem as bad if I am wearing a glove. A lot of my "problem tasks" got so much easier when I was better equipped vs brute forcing. 🥰
