@todochidotv: Kids don’t misbehave out of nowhere it’s usually a result of what they see and feel. Beating them doesn’t build discipline but it builds distance. You’re simply teaching them to be afraid of you when compassion and empathy will impact kids more than fear ever could. #latinos #parents #mexican #kids
100% true. My friends who were little shits in high school have kids that are little shits 😂

I once heard someone say that parents who hit their kids usually aren’t doing it because the child “deserves it.” They react with violence because they can’t handle their own emotions in the moment. They don’t have the emotional space, patience, or self regulation to slow down and actually teach the lesson. So instead of explaining, guiding, or communicating, they explode. It’s not that hitting is an effective teaching method. But it’s that they don’t know any other way to manage their frustration, stress, or fear. Their nervous system goes straight to reaction instead of reflection. When a parent hits, it says more about their lack of emotional control than anything the child did.

I grew up getting hit by my parents (I'm Mexican) then when I had my daughter I used to hit her too, I didn't think anything was wrong with it because "I came out okay." Then I went college and started reading about how hitting is traumatic and abusive and I stopped. Haven't hit my daughter since she was 7 and started practicing positive reinforcement. My daughter is 19 and wonderful and I'm proud for breaking that cycle.🙏🏻

The hardest thing I had to learn as a parent was something I learned as an educator. And that was your kid is not an extension of yourself, and their actions, their successes, and their failures are not yours. Growing up in a Mexican household that was totally foreign. So I decided to never hit my kid and I decided to work with him and build him as a person because I am going to send out someone’s future partner into the world. I’m gonna send out someone’s future employee or future boss into the world and I need to help make him the best young man that I can. So I focused heavily on building with him. That boy cooks, cleans, he advocated for therapy to work through losing family members, graduated with a 3.25 & is now in college. I’m not saying I did it perfect or that I was always a perfect parent. And I look at him now and I am so proud I didn’t follow the “te calmas o te calmo”.

Oh ok 🤨 We don't beat our children!💯 Is that why we saved hundreds of children over time. Because I don't see any Hispanic school shooters 🤨💯

You don't need to beat your child to get your point across. Hitting your child should never be a problem solver.
