Yes I agree culturally but racially no. Where I am from, we are Black (racially) and we have an Indigenous term to refer to us as Black oriole. The narrative that “we just started” calling ourselves Black for certain groups in the diaspora is not accurate and often is with nationalities that are quite literally 95% Black. Also with African American it’s a whole ethnicity, there are branches.

I think what you’re referring to is not “black culture”, that would refer to so many diverse cultures because many different people are identified as black. It’s African/Black American culture

My background is Vincy and Jamaican (Carribean) and the culture is different, but it’s similar in ways, I don’t feel like Black people from different parts of the world try and take American black culture because everybody has their own thing going on. I just feel like it’s similar in ways.

And to answer the question in this vid, African American culture is separate and distinct, but it shares similarities with cultures across the black diaspora. We have been bonded together since colonization hit Africa. Whether you see it that way or not it will always be the African diaspora vs. anyone else no matter the nationality or ethnicity.
