Collagen building rules I have to do now because I know how important they are and noticing that they work… - I build meals around leucine-rich high quality proteins. Leucine is an important amino acid that triggers muscle and tissue repair (think eggs, salmon, chicken, beef, greek yogurt). - I eat colourful vegetables + fruits and not afraid to pair together on my plate. Polyphenols help reduce oxidative stress. - I walk every day and stay active throughout the day. Also walk after big meals when I can. This helps to manage blood sugar and digestion. Subsequently supporting lowering inflammation (inflammation = big collagen destroyer). - No caffeine on an empty stomach and I try to delay it to allow my body to naturally increase cortisol + adrenaline without adding extra stressors. Also no late caffeine as that will impact my sleep later that night. - I eat omega-3 rich foods several times a week. Think sardines, mackerel, walnuts, chia seeds - good for anti inflammatory, hormone balance and hydration and elasticity. - I now use a low dose retinol on my skin 2-3 times a week. This is very new for me, I’m testing to see if it really will promote new skin turnover. Always wear spf 50 if using retinol. - I strength train several times a week and focus on big muscles and muscle chains. Resistance training stimulates collagen production, supports muscles, joints, and connective tissue, and helps counter age-related decline. Not enough women realise their longevity is in their muscle mass. - I prioritise reducing chronic stress (your nervous system plays a big role in your health). Constant stress = higher cortisol. Higher cortisol = breakdown rather than repair. Your body won’t prioritise repair if it thinks you’re in survival mode. Think breathwork, slowing down, connecting deeply to your body, stretching, walking in nature. There’s a lot you can do to support your body to ensure you’re maintaining health and vitality. Join me on this journey if you are in the same phase of life 😘 #h#hormonehealthi#inflammationreliefm#midlifeglowa#antiinflammatoryperimenopausehealth
