@scottybrizzle: Supermarkets like Coles are supporting “low-methane” beef using the feed additive Bovaer, but farmers in Denmark are now reporting serious health issues in their cattle after it became mandatory just recently. From fevers and digestive collapse to sudden drops in milk yield and even deaths. The manufacturers and regulators say it’s safe… but the farmers using it with their own animals are saying the complete opposite. If a cow is eating its evolutionary diet, grazing on grass in a paddock 24/7 instead of being factory-farmed, then Bovaer becomes an unnatural solution to a problem that didn’t exist in the first place. Cows are part of a natural biological cycle. Their methane isn’t “waste”, it converts back into CO₂ that plants use for photosynthesis. Meanwhile, cattle emissions pale in comparison to human-driven industrial emissions. Cows are not the problem, and altering their natural digestive processes to hit a climate target is not the answer. Regenerative farming sequesters carbon, rebuilds soil, restores pasture, and improves the health of the animals - all without chemical shortcuts or biological interference, the way nature intended.
