The GPs need to understand this misconception! Every time I go with a problem they do bloods says every thing is fine and send me away. If I argue it they look at me like I’m crazy.

What’s the logic behind a “routine” blood test? Why not always test for other matters which might not be suspected at that stage, for completeness and avoidance-of-doubt?

Yes but on the flip side Doctors will sometimes do the same ,, if you bloods are ok then they will send you home .. and sadly you have to wait for another symptom before further investigations can be done

My daughter been ill for months, went docs, said nothing wrong with her after doing full blood tests, went to a new GP when she moved home, same blood test but he called her to say she’s severely lacking VitD, she could have been on the correct medication months ago,

But why GPs never ever even offer follow up tests after bloods come back normal. They just say ‘you’re fine’. People try to make GPs look better but NHS GPs are the most dismissive people ever

This is a misconception among GPs, not average people. GPs are the ones who act like a basic panel would show cancer.

Must of mine came back borderline she did full bloods cose I lost a stone in weight in a week now am pathway for cancer had st scan got a big liver going for ultrasound and endoscopy my doctor was fantastic from the start

I had a Doc tell my Dad, the tests are negative so nothing is wrong. To me, that just meant he hadn't yet done the right tests. It was actually Guillain Barré and my Dad nearly died.

problem is most GPs will see those are fine (read withing range and not optimal for you/dont consider if youre trending up or down) and tell you youre fine, dissmiss it as all in your head and send you home.

I had a serious stomach bleed last year. Routine blood test in A & E was negative. I was sent home on 5 separate occasions only to be eventually rushed into hospital. I could have died! The service and care I received was terrible. I was traumatised by the experience, mentally scarred.
