the e21 2.0 casting on the head means it was pulled from a 75-79 2 liter e21, might just be he head put onto the original 2002 block but it could also be a whole e21 motor

I wouldn’t be shocked if those headers aren’t home made or some buddies shop made em. Can’t tel for sure but the welds at the top don’t look great

that's probably a Stahl header, good header, guess it was a 'dealer option' back in de day, just like the behr ac, both not factory.. that cylinder head is from a later model, they probably swapped the engine with a later model 5 speed, these came from factory with 5spd but that would be an extremely rare dogleg box unlikely

It’s has a full drivetrain swap from an early 80’s BMW 320i. Check the rear end, if it has an E21 diff, congrats you’ve got a few thousand dollars worth of parts. Doors, fenders, glass, and lights are also worth a bit.

I did one 20 years ago from the junkyard. The rear shock tower was bad and bad quarters. The interior was super clean and it ran. Put on some 2002 fender flares to cover the rust and some 15x8 wheels.
