@retrosspection: Women in Switzerland gained the right to vote in federal elections in February 1971 after a referendum. An earlier referendum on women's suffrage was held in 1959 and was rejected by the majority (67%) of Swiss men. Howeverlitwas notuntil a 1990 decision byithe Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland that women gained full voting rights in the final Swiss canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden, where men had voted against women's right to vote both in 1959 and 1971.
