@casabolanos: Can you imagine living somewhere so free? 🇺🇾 Uruguay is one of the most progressive and sustainable countries IN THE WORLD! I mean, the basic human rights alone should make you want to move here, or at least be mad that your country can’t do the same… There are pros and cons to living in Uruguay, but I’ll tell you we feel a lot more free here than we did living in the U.S. 🤭 Follow @casabolanos for moving abroad and life in Latino America - Move abroad, Uruguay, life abroad, family abroad, human rights, Latin America, progressive politics #uruguay #u#uruguaybloggerl#lifeabroadl#latinamericalatinoamérica

For some reason Uruguay is flooding my FYP today. Maybe it's a sign? 🤔

I’m 19, I just got the idea to visit Uruguay for about 3 days, my only concern is how I’ll get around because I don’t know Spanish and I’ll be going solo for the first time ever. Any tips? Should I do it? I don’t know what kinds of things to do in Montevideo either

I moved here 3 months ago from NYC and am loving it so far. In addition to what you already mentioned, another thing I’ll add is how friendly and welcoming the people here are. And the availability of affordable housing, which is a challenge in many other places I was considering.

Healthcare, good healthcare, is not free. There’s also an age limit to getting private healthcare and would be paying as much or more as NY for insurance. I looked into it as a native Uruguayan looking to move back home.

I’m interested in moving to Uruguay. I’m planning to change my career in the tech industry. Wonder what their tech market is like there, and if there’s opportunity for me 🤔

I moved here and I did pay over $750 USD to do a regular routine gyno/std test at the British hospital so don’t follow what I did. Get insurance still.

How's the racism/colorism? I mean obv it would be tough to be worse than US at the moment, but compared to Mexico, Argentina, etc?

Although I agree with everything you said, you should also mention the downsides. It’s very difficult to find a job here, and most positions are poorly paid. However, it is easy to have a university degree recognized, and that makes the job search very different.

What are some areas that are cheaper but also safe to live in Uruguay? I am used to rural life in the US.
