Donald Trump didn’t become president by accident or osmosis. He was voted in, overwhelmingly, by white voters. Not all, but the majority. And that matters, because it reveals a pattern we’ve seen throughout American history: white America will excuse, ignore, or outright deny behaviors that would be unacceptable from anyone else when the person in question protects their interests or preserves their sense of power. This isn’t just politics. It’s psychology. For generations, the idea of white authority has been reinforced through culture, religion, education, and social hierarchy. When someone like Trump comes along... loud, reckless, morally bankrupt, and openly aligned with their grievances, many white voters don’t see the danger. They see familiarity. They see someone who reflects their entitlement to dominate the narrative. They see a protector of a system that has always placed them at the center. So yes, they will turn a blind eye to disgusting behaviors, shady associations, and morally repugnant actions. Why? Because confronting those truths would also mean confronting the system that benefits them. Ignoring wrongdoing becomes easier than acknowledging complicity. At the end of the day, it all comes back to one thing: power. The fear of losing it, the desperation to keep it, and the willingness to excuse anything, absolutely anything...to maintain it.
