The interesting thing is - people misuse and understand respect and it's due to an old misleading phrase "respect is earned!" no it is not. if you read or study any of the great leaders of history or read "the art of war" "meditations" and any other great leadership literature - respect is a given; you need to respect your enemy to have a chance at winning a battle. what people crave when they demand respect, is integrity. integrity first requires respect and it has the ability to influence and change someone's mind and opinion. if someone has a different view to someone that has ingrity, they will ask "what is they see or understand that I don't" and they will be curious and listen which may change their mind; this would not happen with enemies or with someone without integrity. therefore, if someone disrespects you, it says more about them than you; not reacting or giving it air time will see them doubt or continue in ignorance - what do you care if they are your enemy?
