Auditory processing disorders are a nightmare, and when your brain is focused on something else like "EyE cOnTaCt" it makes it sooo much worse 😭

I just tell people I have hearing issues and turn my ear to them bc im not diagnosed and its just easier.

I was tested for my hearing so many times growing up just to be told they don't know why I cant hear bc I can pass the tests. 😭😂 my mom called it selective hearing

“Seeing and hearing at the same time” ummmm we love subtitles but have trouble processing what is being said in a one on one conversation in a busy area or a group conversation where everyone is talking because there’s no real life subtitles

yes... I look at people's mouths.. when I can't hear or don't understand I lean in and watch their lips closer I was not even aware of this until my adult life. I can tell so much by the way someones mouth moves when they talk.. I notice a lot I think others miss. probably not very relevant info. but it helps me navigate this world 😅

I never heard anyone say this about autism but this explains so much ! I have so much trouble hearing especially over the phone ! It’s stressful . I never head anyone explain it this way . I always pass all my hearing tests

I’ve been reading lips my whole life. Thought I had a hearing problem but they would test me and say everything is ok. I can’t hear most people when they talk in background noise
