A spinning microbe seen in poop usually means there’s a motile organism present — a microbe that can move on its own using tiny tail-like structures called flagella. Under the microscope, these germs often appear to swim or spin, and they can be bacteria like E. coli or Campylobacter, or sometimes motile protozoa from contamination. Finding a spinning organism simply shows that a live microbe is present in the stool, which can happen during infections or digestive disturbances. If the person has symptoms like diarrhea, stomach pain, or fever, it’s a sign they should get a proper stool test to confirm the cause. #fyp
