MEN, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO US? I am absolutely appalled. A former Cornell student alleges that seven fraternity members sexually assaulted her after she became severely intoxicated and impaired. These are allegations, the men have not been convicted, and the criminal investigation has now been reopened. But regardless of what a grand jury ultimately determines, I need to ask men something: When the hell did a vulnerable woman become an opportunity instead of someone to PROTECT? When did masculinity become measured by how many women you can sleep with instead of how much integrity you possess when nobody is watching? If a woman is so intoxicated that you have to wonder whether she can consent, THE ANSWER IS NO. Not “maybe.” Not “she was flirting earlier.” Not “she came upstairs.” Not “she drank willingly.” NO. Get her friends. Find her phone. Call someone she trusts. Get her safely home. Sit outside the damn door if necessary and make sure nobody touches her. And MEN—if your friend is trying to take advantage of an incapacitated woman, you don’t laugh. You don’t film it. You don’t leave. You don’t look the other way because he’s your boy. YOU BECOME THE REASON IT STOPS. I’m tired of hearing men talk about being “alphas,” being dominant, being protectors and being masculine while having absolutely no understanding of what strength actually requires. A predator takes advantage of vulnerability. A MAN PROTECTS IT. Real strength is possessing the ability to take something and having the CHARACTER not to. Real masculinity is making a woman feel safer because you walked into the room—not more afraid. And fathers raising sons: teach them this. Coaches, mentors, brothers, teammates: teach them this. Because we don’t need another generation of men learning how close they can walk to the legal line. We need men who wouldn’t even WANT to approach it. Your character isn’t revealed when everyone is watching. It’s revealed when someone is vulnerable, nobody would know, and you still choose what is right. So stop asking where all the good men went. Look in the damn mirror. And ask yourself: When somebody vulnerable needs one, ARE YOU ONE? #ProtectWomen #MenDoBetter #Consent #RadicalMovement
