What gets me is you don’t HAVE to pick a tag. One of my angels asked for a Stanley cup. So that’s what I’m getting her. Do I think Stanley’s are a weird trend? Sure. But kids want to fit in, and I grew up poor so I know that feeling. You’ll see my haul for her later when the other stuff arrives. Every year I do a lot of research to make sure I’m doing right by those kids.

My mom used to pick out like 2-3 tags from the Angel tree and just stuff them in her purse to shop for "later" and then would never do them :( I still feel awful just thinking about it

I grew up dirt poor and my mom always signed us up for the angel trees so I feel as if I have the right to say- If you aren’t willing to pay for the brand name toy/clothing, then you shouldn’t take that angel. Because when I got a coat from the program, I was expecting a thrifted, old and used one, but instead got a carhart, and it actually made me cry having something NEW and expensive that I could be proud of. That’s the entire point of it. It’s not to make you feel like a good person or just donating to donate, it’s to make a child feel included during the holidays

I was in Walmart yesterday and a sweet old lady stopped me to ask what “black and white makeup” meant for an angel tree. I really wasn’t sure and showed her black and white eyeshadows, lip glosses and nail polish, I hope that was right 😭

the kids would rather Noone take the tag then someone who is not going to respect them. as a former angel tree kid, do it right or not at all. angel trees are completely voluntary not mandatory.

Some people need to just accept they don't have to buy angel tree donations. I am too broke to buy a kid name brand Legos or Barbies, so I simply don't participate. It doesn't make me a bad person. It gives another person who CAN afford it an opportunity to make that kids Christmas special. I wouldn't be able to do that

It’s so insane to me! This kid wanted Pokémon cards, which I knew nothing about so I called some friends and we sat in a store and shorted through cards, finding the best ones! It’s really not hard 🤦♀️

Love Salvation Army Angel Tree but I’m also participating in another local Angel Tree where the parents get to “shop” for their kids with gifts received! This completely eliminates any miscommunication or confusion about toys and I love it

There was a lady on tiktok who got an angel tree and was gonna get five below headphones and i was like hey! This girls 8 and some rlly good headphones with proper care could last her through highschool! She’d never have to worry again:) she also asked for a bike and i was like i got an adjustable bike at 8 and didnt have to buy a new one since! If u can spare it money wise get these items in versions that will grow with her! And this lady was SUPER SWEET and took everything to heart and was like i didnt even think abt it! Be like this amazing woman
