As a guy I truly can’t comprehend why some dudes are bothered by women in traditionally men’s work fields purely for being a woman, like who cares. I used to have fun with it because my service manager (woman) would bring me in to talk to the customers who “wanted to talk to the man who worked on it” because I’d have her repeat what she had told them and then ask so what’s your question and just stare at em and watch em squirm. Hope the guy that did this to her gets it rough in prison before he gets put down.

2½ years ago i got a new job. I wasn't the only woman, but the only female mechanic. Since then we got a new girl every year and another one already applied for next year. The sudden increase in women hasn't gone unnoticed. Idk if they felt safer knowing we already have a female mechanic, or if it's a coincidence, but the thought that i could've contributed to this in any way, no matter how small, fills me with pride. We need more women

8 years ago I worked at an electrical wholesalers and some of the men would rather be served or talk to my male apprentice than me. I could tell ya step by step how to rewire your house, the apprentice didn't even know how to wire a plug. one store even banned women working there becauseof their male customers. that was 8 years ago not 100 years ago.

Not the trades, but I was the only girl cook in a kitchen for 6 years (we had 1 other for a year or two in there at some point). The amount of sexual harrassment and straight up assault was wild. Now notice how I said GIRL. I was only a “woman” for the last year or two I worked there.
