Just use it, don't abuse it. Pedal to the floor only after 2k RPM, not earlier. Otherwise, the chain will 100% snap, and engine temp needs to be at least 75°C. Basic stuff. I have one myself.

All well and good saying that but for a car that isn’t the most expensive, it shouldnt require you to spend more on services than the actual cost of the car. Also, considering that time chain can be unreliable, no matter how much servicing it gets, if it snaps, your bank account is done for

oil changes should be 6k miles or yearly regardless of the car even if u use cheap basic fully synthetic oil just change it and being a diesel do fuel filter and air filter aswell

Change oil every 10k km, oil flush every 2 oil services, let the car warm up every cold start, add every 2 years injector cleaning additive in the tank. This will keep the car running for a long time

Have a 520d f10 for 2 years now , this is true , if you service it on time and change the timing chain when needed which is every 180,000 km , you will never have problems , i have 350000km on mine and its running perfectly, simple answer just dont buy bmw if you want to drive a car that you cant maintain 🤷🏻♂️
