The biggest problem is that our Constitution is deeply flawed. ANY system that hinges on humans "doing the right thing" truly lacks the most basic understanding of the human mind and how its default survival network impacts behavior.

I realized in his first term that these famous the checks and balances had failed. When he was reelected, it was confirmation to him and the freaks around him that none of the checks and balances applied to them. The legislative branch apparently never mattered. The judicial branch is slow and there are ways to get that too. So you’re right. It’s done. I’ve said for a while now, turn out the lights.

Absolutely correct. I’m afraid it will have to get much worse before a “tipping-point” number of Americans will begin with the reckoning you describe. I think, the worst of all possible outcomes is that the problems are just pasted over again for another decade.

This is so helpful. I have said for years that America's lack of reckoning at any point, but after the Civil War, especially, was going to be our downfall. And we have arrived. We must look to countries who've had their reckonings (e.g., Germany, Japan) for guidance.
