Today’s reading reminds us that following God’s purpose requires faith, courage, obedience, and a willingness to stand firm even when others do not understand us. In Matthew 10, Jesus calls his twelve disciples, gives them authority, and sends them out to share the good news of the Kingdom. ✨ 1. You Are Sent With a Purpose Jesus called the twelve disciples by name and gave them instructions to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, proclaiming: 📖 “And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.” — Matthew 10:7 (KJV) The disciples were not sent out without direction. Jesus instructed them on what to do and how to conduct themselves. This reminds us that faith is not only about what we believe privately. It should also influence how we live, serve others, and share the truth we have learned. We each have opportunities to be a source of encouragement, kindness, and wisdom in the lives of those around us. ✨ 2. Depend on God Rather Than Material Things Jesus instructed the disciples not to accumulate gold, silver, or extra provisions for their journey (Matthew 10:9–10). They were to trust the provision available to them as they carried out their assignment. This teaches us an important principle: our security should not rest entirely on what we possess. We can work responsibly and prepare wisely while remembering that our ultimate trust belongs in God. Sometimes stepping forward in faith means accepting that we will not have every detail figured out before we begin. ✨ 3. Be Wise, Yet Remain Innocent 📖 “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” — Matthew 10:16 (KJV) Jesus did not tell his disciples that everyone would welcome their message. He prepared them for opposition and encouraged them to be both wise and harmless. We can apply this lesson by being discerning without becoming cruel, standing firm without becoming hateful, and protecting ourselves without abandoning our integrity. Having a good heart does not mean we must ignore wisdom. ✨ 4. Do Not Let Fear Silence You Jesus warned his disciples that they would face persecution and that some people would reject their message. Yet he encouraged them not to live in fear. 📖 “Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.” — Matthew 10:26 (KJV) He also reminded them that the Father knows even when a sparrow falls to the ground and that the hairs of their heads are numbered (Matthew 10:29–30). What a beautiful reminder of the Father’s knowledge and care. We may feel overlooked or misunderstood by people, but we are never beyond His awareness. ✨ 5. Put Your Loyalty to God First Jesus explained that following him could create division, even within families. He was not teaching his disciples to be unloving; he was showing them that loyalty to God and the truth must come before the desire to please everyone. 📖 “He that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.” — Matthew 10:38 (KJV) Sometimes doing what is right requires difficult choices. We may not receive everyone’s approval, but our decisions should be guided by truth and obedience rather than fear of rejection. ❤️ Today’s Reflection Matthew 10 challenges us to live with purpose, depend on God, use wisdom, and remain courageous when our faith is tested. We cannot control how everyone responds to the truth, but we can control whether we remain faithful, compassionate, and obedient. We do not need to be fearless to move forward; we need to keep trusting the Father even when fear is present. 💭 What stood out to you most from Matthew 10? #Day289BibleReading #BibleInAYear #Matthew10 #DailyBibleReading #FaithOverFear
