My mom did something similar to this when I was in kindergarten! My girl scout leader didn't do a head count before leaving, just asked 'is everybody here?' The school's secretary found me 15 minutes later crying in the bathroom and called my mom. Mom got me ice cream and spent the next two hours waiting for a phone call that never came. She had a neighbor watch me and went down to the school like nothing happened. Apparently they realized I wasn't there when they got to the park and just assumed I went home. The exact words to my mom was "You don't have her?!" My mom was livid but kept a calm, stern tone telling the leader that I was home safe, but there should have AT THE VERY LEAST have been a phone call when they realized I wasn't at the park. I was in a different troop after that.
