Unscrew and tighten the oil filter, remove and reinstall the drain plug, pour in fresh oil - nothing complicated at first glance. But things don’t always go as smoothly as expected. • Today we have a Mercedes C-Class with the M271 petrol engine. The owner decided to change the oil on his own, but while tightening the drain plug, he applied far more force than necessary. As a result, the aluminum oil pan cracked around the threaded area. In this case, the oil pan must be replaced. • However, replacing the oil pan on the M271 engine in this chassis is not as simple as it sounds. To remove it, you have to lower the front subframe completely, unbolt it from the body and the engine, lift the engine with a jack, and disconnect the engine mounts from the subframe. A huge amount of work - all because the owner attempted to perform a simple oil change by himself. • The video shows the full process of removing and installing the new oil pan on the M271 engine. The pan is aluminum, sealed with gasket sealant, and secured with bolts.
