I clocked the other day that a lot of ai speak feels like when you have an assignment due and you're struggling to meet the word count so you just repeat yourself in a slightly different way in the hope you get there. it's so overly wordy without having anything interesting to say

lowkey the parallel sentence structure makes me the saddest because i use it all the time 😭 i hate how i have to avoid how I've written for ages because of some annoying technology that only got big 3-4 years ago!!!

Even humans who use em dashes use it way less than ai. A lot of times periods, commas, comma splices, or colons work better. An em dash is something used kinda for emphasis, not for sentence one. and also on most computers and editing softwares you can hyphen twice to get em dash

i feel like a lot of ai comments i see these days are ones that look like an in depth comment but if you actually read them they’re just summarizing the video. like someone just trying to prove they watched the video.

my dad loves to use the "it's not just x, it's y" because he always tries to make things into a "great lesson" that needs to be learnt and I hate that Ai uses it because now I hear my dad on everything I hear

The weird sentence structure is how a journalist, copy writer, or video script or speech writer writes, and the em dash is from novels and fanfiction. AI does this because that's what they fed into the training data. I could show you hundreds of articles I've written over the years that trigger a bunch of your red flags but were written before AI existed.

The minute you started with em dash, immediately I’m no longer listening. Em dashes are something AI uses because they fed it fanfiction and published books. You can use it as a maybe flag, but it should never be the first or most important.
