I do very much like China, but maybe don't compare lgbt with zoophelia. One actively hurts people/animals in this case, and the other is just 2 consenting adults loving eachother. They cannot be compared

There’s no doubt that China isn‘t endangering LGBTQ+ people or threatening their lives like in the US but this comparison game doesn’t lead you anywhere. China is actively censoring LGBTQ representation in media, thinking of it as a western influence. The fact that you compare it to a sexual preference and a kink shows just how deeply flawed the view China has on LGBTQ actually is. Yes I‘ll have it better than in a lot of western countries but I also won’t have a lot of the same rights as a straight Chinese citizen because China thinks of my sexuality as a preference rather than something completely normal and natural which it should be. Just because things are worse somewhere else doesn’t mean it couldn’t be better here aswell. For a country that wants to follow socialist ideology you have to adhere to it‘s standard rather than comparing it to capitalist hellholes.

What about the right to marry or adopt children? Just because the society might be more accepting, doesn't mean that LGBTQ people enjoy the same lives as heterosexual people. Also I find it appalling when people compare sexual perversions like z*ophilia or p*dophilia to LGBTQ, because those are completely different things, because 2 adults of the same sex can give consent, while animals or children can't give real consent or think about their actions or the risks

Yeah…no. We were explicitly told BY CHINESE PEOPLE not to be “out”. There is also zero legal protection for lgbt in the workplace and you can be fired for it. There’s no marriage equality or civil partnerships and you have no rights when it comes to heath/financial decisions. Just because you aren’t hunting down and getting rid of lgbt people doesn’t mean China is “fine” with it. Complete misinformation.

Western media & ppl influenced by them recently have been saying China is anti LGBT because they generally ban or suppress sexually explicit media (dramas, animations, web novels etc). China has had laws against obscenity & pornography for a long time now. It isn't anything new & the government surpresses it regardless of the sexualities of those depicted. Recently they banned some "hookup"/pornographic apps that were primarily used by LGBT ppl but it wasn't about who the apps were used by but what they were being used for that was against the law.
