My 20 month old can only say momma but shows what she needs well and understands tasks, points to every word in a book when I ask where they are. Shes on a wait list for speech therapy

Does being in a bilingual home usually correlate with delayed speech? My guy just turned 2 and while he doesn’t say much he understands soo much plus also does some sign language. Should I be worried about confusing him?

We never tell our son to "say car" (<--example) Instead I'll ask "want to tell daddy what color car you have?" He thinks its a game 😂 Or "Let's go say good morning to the cats". Idk if thats the same as "Say ___." But so far this worked for us.

My daughters second word was yes or yea because we used to do it to her in a song and dance from when she was 4 months old 😂 she’s 11 months and now says mum, dad, nan, yes, no, duck, book and ball 🥰

It’s been 4 months since she started talking and i have been modelling the word Car exactly like how you said it yet she still hasn’t said it. She recognises that it’s a car yes, but has zero interest in saying it.

When my son and I are playing, I like to say, “I like playing, ooo, ball! My orange ball!” And when I drop it on the floor I say, “I dropped it!” And make a surprise face. He can now say oh no I dropped it.”

I recently met my 2 year old cousin. He doesn’t know much words, but when I squeezed a toy of his, I said “squeeze!” And he actually said it too (it was a word he didn’t know) is this what you mean?
