I think the coolest ones are the creatures that in hindsight, is just people being inexperienced with real animals. My favorite one is Serpopard, which is depicted as the body of a leopard and the neck (and head) of a snake. In hind-sight, especially seeing depictions of them, they're just Giraffes. and the European guy who saw them, had no idea how to describe it

I like the Wulver. they're kinda like werewolves, but they're permanent hybrids and dont go on full moon rampages, but rather leave fish on the windowsills of the houses of poor families and help guide lost travelers
