@lboogie2534: I was really inspired to share this video. Holly Robinson Peete speaks about her autistic son after a question from an audience member at BravoCon in this clip. The thing that strikes me is how she was told when her disabled son was so young all the things he would never do, and it makes me think of my sister Lisa and the things my mom was told she wouldn’t do. In 1992, my youngest sister was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. My mom told me she left the doctors office, drove to the library and checked out every medical book she could get. She found a specialty hospital. My mom fought for school inclusion, medical care and equipment and more to create a support team for her to do more than doctors thought possible in the early 90’s. I’m proud of my mom for educating herself and advocating in the face of never ending obstacles instead of crumbling under the pressure and guilt she felt after her child’s diagnosis of cerebral palsy. Today, my sister is married with a daugther and navigates the world with confidence in a motorized wheelchair. And I’m proud of all the moms advocating for their child battling disabilities and doing their best ❤️
