My cousin Nathan, who is married and has 3 daughters, has been lost on Lake Michigan since the end of September. He went paddleboarding and he did not return. His board was found 5 miles out on the Lake and the day he was lost had 15-20mph winds and it was cold. The lake is cold. His wife Desirae said the Coast Guard is confident he is dead but could not recover his body. His dad went and searched the shores for days. Still no sign of him. Very sad.

Lakes Michigan, Huron, and Superior are actually deep and wide enough to be considered freshwater seas if they weren't technically landlocked. I absolutely believe they go by sea rules and not lake rules, spiritually.

I live to blocks from lake Michigan in north east Wisconsin. Some nights when I hunt for yooperlites you can hear old timey kind of music. I quit rock hunting at night 😂

There’s a Catholic school called “Our Lady of the Lake” in Michigan, so there being a water spirit residing in the lake isn’t too far fetched.

Lake Michigan is my peaceful space. It’s more beautiful than ANY ocean. We are water snobs in Michigan. I will not swim in any lake but ours especially Lake Lanier. Yet we have white sandy beaches and blue waters. Never seen a siren though. Nature is peaceful to those who respect it though 🪶

My mom almost died in Lake Michigan when she was 6 and she says that she always feels drawn to it when I was younger her she would keep a jar of the lake water and replace it every spring and would put it on our ofrenda during day of the day for all the people that drowned in the lake

Mishipesu doesn't turn into a woman, I am Ojibwe. Mishipesu translates to the great lynx, Mishipesu is a water creature with a cat head/paws but a long dragon like body w scales, and spikes along the spin and the horns of a deer or bison. They also live in Lake Superior not Lake Michigan.
