Today marks the 7th anniversary of Lover.🩷 Seven years ago today, Taylor Swift brought this beautiful, romantic, pink-colored album into the world and invited us all into her little universe of love, warmth, and hope. Lover has always been one of my two favorite Taylor albums. I still remember that summer—the soft pink aesthetic, the dreamy atmosphere, and the feeling that for a moment, everything around me could be a little more beautiful. Whenever I listen to Lover, I feel like I can slow down and simply enjoy the happiness of the moment. But what makes this album truly special to me is that it also taught me something much deeper: the courage to be myself. The Man reminded me that no matter who you are or what your gender is, you should be free to pursue what you love without letting other people’s expectations define you. And for me, that message became especially personal because of the color pink. Pink has always been my favorite color. But growing up, I was often laughed at or even bullied simply because I was a boy who loved pink. I was made to feel as though there was something wrong with me for liking a color that society told me I shouldn’t like. But Lover helped me understand that there is nothing wrong with loving what you love. A color doesn’t have a gender. A song doesn’t have a gender. And neither should the things that make us happy. Today, I can finally say it openly and proudly: I love pink.💗 Thank you, Taylor, for reminding me that I don’t have to change myself just to fit someone else’s idea of who I should be.
