@steven: What if every bad decision you’ve made started with your sleep? Many of us see sleep as rest, but in reality it’s the foundation for everything we do in life. Today I’m joined for the second time by Matthew Walker, a neuroscientist who has spent years studying the impact of sleep on the brain and the body. He sees sleep as the social ‘glue’ that keeps us together. This time, Matthew brought me through his ‘QQRT’ framework - a simple way for all of us to measure our sleep health. We cover: - Why does the last hour of sleep matter more than the first? - Are supplements like melatonin and magnesium even helping your sleep? - What’s the single most powerful thing you can do to sleep better? - Is using your phone before bed harming your sleep quality? - What does poor sleep actually do to your brain long term? and so much more… There is constantly so much new science on sleep and the advice is becoming a lot more practical. I’ve come to believe that sleep sits upstream of almost everything we struggle with - our focus, our mood, our relationships, and even our health. #podcast #sleep #magnesium #health

I can genuinely FEEL the difference between taking magnesium glycinate an hour before bed and not taking it at all. I’m going to keep doing what allows me to get 7-8 hrs of sleep a night, if it’s placebo or not is irrelevant to the benefit I get from it

whether magnesium is correlated or not, if it doesn't directly, it surely indirectly helps promote better sleep. 🤷🏻‍♂️

first, MOST. second it does not need to cross the brain barrier. it need to get into the muscle tissue for its relaxation effects and improvement on cell optimization

Good context here. Magnesium can support sleep, but consistency matters most. Regular timing and steady routines often move the needle more than any single tool.

Magnesium glycinate is far superior for relaxation and sleep than magtein. Magtein will do a much better job giving you mental clarity, memory retention, and boost overall productivity. Magnesium glycinate is chelated into glycine which glycine on its own is already effective when it comes to sleep support.

Magnesium threonate I think can cross the blood brain barrier and magnesium glycinate I think can it help relax your muscles maybe but I’m also pretty sure that maybe glycine helps quality of sleep

Curious — anyone here ever checked magnesium, vitamin D, or cortisol levels when struggling with sleep? The numbers often tell the real story
