@msr.think: Have you ever noticed that some tunnels aren’t perfectly round but have a special uneven pattern inside? Here’s why. In soft soil, tunnels are dug using a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). But in extremely hard mountains like granite, the tunnel is filled with solid rock. TBMs struggle to cut through such tough material, so engineers use core-cutting machines that drill and break the rock into smaller pieces. The unique pattern left behind actually makes the tunnel stronger and more stable. Fascinating engineering! #shorts #shortsfeed
