@victorialouisebell: Replying to @Lisette Priestley When did everyone go on maternity leave? Is 33 weeks considered early? 😅#pregnancytiktok #maternityleave #fyp
it could realistically be 9 weeks until you have the baby, which means you might go back to work when the baby is 10 months rather than 1 year almost, your choice, but that's why it seems early, most 1st babies are late

I started at 28 weeks, ignore the mum shaming - you will literally get shamed for everything and anything 😂

I’m a nurse in A&E and was planning on going on mat leave at 35 weeks but my body actually forced me off sick at 29 weeks! I love my job and was pretty sad about it at first but now I’m coming to terms with it 🤣 I went off at 31 weeks with my first too!

Alina Soluk :
In Greece you can go on maternity leave at 32 weeks with full pay, if you decide to go later you can’t “transfer” those days for when baby is born so you basically “loose” them, so pretty much everyone goes on maternity leave at 32

Id rather have those 7 weeks off with the baby and go back to work when he/she is 9 months not 7 months.

38 weeks. Baby born 39 weeks so had 10 days off work. 5 spent with my 1st born, 5 spent chilling and batch cooking food for the freezer 👌🏼 anything more and I think I would have been bored.

If you have worked 26 weeks over the past year you will be entitled and it doesn’t have to be one consistent job x

I think it depends on your job, I went 38 weeks on first, now 2nd child going up to 5 days before due date! I want as much time with little on as possible ❤️

I will be going on maternity at 39 weeks however I have 3 weeks of annual leave to use so finish up at 36 weeks. My job isn’t strenuous or physically demanding. I’m sitting at a laptop in my house so I know my needs/requirements are different. I would prefer to have more leave on the other side. What I find wild is the amount of people who think I want their opinion or they have a say. Like you don’t know how I’m feeling, or struggling etc. you know nothing. The only person I would discuss this with is my husband and he understands my rationale.

I had my babies late 80s/early 90s, it was standard for women to start maternity leave 6-8 weeks before their due date. But I don’t remember us having the option to take 9 months to a year off, I recall it was generally 6 months in total. The later stages of pregnancy are very tiring it makes sense to stop at bout 33 weeks imo.

In Serbia you can take sick pregnancy leave from moment you find out you are pregnant, and then have Maternity leave once the baby is born for a year

I'm going on maternity leave a week or two before she is born as I want as much time as possible afterwards to be off rather than before. But its up to the mum🙂

I was in a similar situation, I went on mat leave at 34 weeks. I have a physically active job, we too were renovating and had so much to do before baby arrived, my body could not cope any more with my job AND renovating. People told me I was going off early… I think it should be illegal to work past 35 weeks 😭😅
