@ihrartmovement: ✨ Announcing the Winners of the African Human Rights Spoken Word Contest 2025! The African Secretariat of the International Human Rights Art Movement proudly launched the African Human Rights Spoken Word Contest — a transformative platform harnessing the power of poetry and spoken word to confront urgent human rights issues across the continent. This year, the contest received 121 passionate entries from countries across Africa and from Africans in the diaspora. Poets, artists, and activists used their voices to address themes such as social justice, climate change, women’s empowerment, immigration, human trafficking, police brutality, and violence against women. Through their performances, they amplified stories too often unheard, using spoken word as a catalyst for awareness, empathy, and change.
