@thinkingcanine: I encounter loose dogs a lot traveling, and usually they are alone. No people around. If I wasn’t able to handle this situation, I wouldn’t bring my dogs out here. I expect it this. I wasn’t sure how these intact males would do with my intact male, so I got my male on a leash and kept him under my control. The girls are free to interact. Social media has glorified control and not allowing dogs to be dogs or have agency. I’m not impressed by social media “trainers” needing to have there dogs under perfect command, while they panic over loose dogs. I’m impressed by trainers who know how to socialize their dogs, and know how to read loose dogs enough to navigate situations.
You did a great job. I struggle with my dog who can be dog reactive unless I introduce her properly with random dogs running at us

A lot of dogs in the Netherlands are intact males. Castration is less and less advised, and if its needed in puberty a temporary chemical castration is advised. There are intact male interactions everywhere here. In off leash places you will definetly come across an intact male. Our bigger one is intact too. Is your intact male the one who doesnt do well with other intact males or do you believe unknown intact males shouldnt socialize?
