Fuel and insurance at 18-21 you’re looking at 400-500 these days unless you live in a rural area and if you need to drive to/for work

1. Nobody gets that much money at that age 2. Car insurance alone is like £250 forget the road tax & fuel

If earn £1784 id probably save at least £1200 if I wanted a house. Don’t get why people spend so much then complain they can’t get a house

Not everyone’s luck enough to still live with parents at that age, I work 30-35 a week, get paid for every hour in there and still don’t get paid that much, my Net pay is what your suggesting the gross pay is. Then factor in tax, NI and pension… £1500 at best

tbf this is exactly how we did it. My boyfriend moved in with me and my family, we paid £400 rent to my parents. My car was £200 a month, his was £400. £35 Phone, £40 ish on subscriptions, then about £200 for general spending (clothes, meals etc). We ended up saving around £2k a month, sometimes a bit more

I wouldn't get a phone on contract, you spend so much extra on the interest, you can buy a decent phone outright for £150-£250 then get data only for £5-25 per month depending on how much mobile data

Rent to parents £250? Try rent to a real landlord for £900 on that 👍 not all of us have the privilege of still living at home, no shade to those that do, because that’s the only way of saving these days. But don’t be under the illusion it’s a majority, cause I ain’t met 1 apart from my own sister 🤣🤣🤣
