Not Christian, but I remember being a child and my mother told me menstruating women aren’t allowed in the temple. It was so ridiculous to me it made me question the existence of god, and I’m an atheist now

I love this story. It's become more meaningful to me over the last few years as I've dealt with a chronic illness, spending years going to multiple doctors and not getting better; I know how much relief she must have felt. My dad took his first communion when he was 40 years old because he believed he’s too sinful to take part in it, instead of forcing him we let him take his time to understand that god loves us no matter what and he came for “Sinners” like us.
