@rev.gerlynhenry: I’ve been sitting with this story for a few days thinking that something might happen in the world to make it more relevant. But I think this is relevant all the time. People often hold themselves back because “god” or “Church” or “good” isn’t where they self identify.
The shared cup takes me back 😅 2020 onwards everyone got individually sealed mini shot glasses (I’m in Australia)

Not Christian, but I remember being a child and my mother told me menstruating women aren’t allowed in the temple. It was so ridiculous to me it made me question the existence of god, and I’m an atheist now

Judas ate too. Even those who we think are least worthy of grace are worthy in the eyes of the creator.

I love this story. It's become more meaningful to me over the last few years as I've dealt with a chronic illness, spending years going to multiple doctors and not getting better; I know how much relief she must have felt. Thank you for sharing this interpretation, it's given me a new perspective on the story to consider.

This has unlocked a lot of shame based teaching in my brain and allowed a gentler, more loving understanding of the sacrament. Thank you.

My dad took his first communion when he was 40 years old because he believed he’s too sinful to take part in it, instead of forcing him we let him take his time to understand that god loves us no matter what and he came for “Sinners” like us.

My favorite part of that story is how exasperated the apostles were, it just feels truly human in the way the sequence plays out

Thank you for this. As a man, it’s sometimes far, far better to have a woman’s insight to a reading.
