@caty_toro: I’ve been working with career changers since 2019 and I’ve found that with most millennials and gen X, they struggle with the golden handcuffs. They don’t even realize the path they’re on wasn’t their own but they feel too far up the ladder to make a pivot. Does everyone need to make a change? Nope. Sometimes it’s just boundaries and resetting your standards. But if you’re not sure what’s next, go check out my career resources in my profile 🔗 I’m forever grateful for you🫶🏻 #careeradvice #corporatemillennials #careercrisis #clarity #worklife
“ If you don’t want your bosses job, you’re probably on the wrong path “ That was kind of deep.

this was said to me a long time ago "if you cant find someone in your company who's life looks like one you'd want, you might be in the wrong place"

I have never wanted my bosses job. To be on a “boss” path means you’ll be managing people. As a 20+ year top performer I have 0 desire to be a manager, director, VP. If you love your work, being a boss is a sure fire way to do less of it, and significantly more paperwork.

Happened to me... stepped into a director role 3+ years ago & about to pivot into solo work again. Realizing I'll always be a leader at my core. But that doesn't mean I always need to hold a leadership title at work.

Dropped down from a Manager to a Senior after two years in. Had a kid so it looked like it was my excuse but bottom line you could never pay me enough to manage grown adults.

A job is just a job to me at this point. I no longer want to climb any kind of corporate ladder. I just want stability in something that doesn’t drain me or make me anxious.

This is the THE biggest realization. I had never given myself permission to re-evaluate what success meant for me at different stages in my life…especially after becoming a mom.

Always thought I wanted to be a VP, EVP etc and then I had a child and my priorities really changed. Now I just want to make a comfortable amount of money, and enjoy what I do. I don’t want to be on call 24/7.

Yes this! I also used the mindset that if I don’t respect the leaders I’m working with, I should find somewhere else - I wanted to be sure I was learning leadership skills/styles I would be happy replicating! Means I’m happier working for them and more excited about my future growth
