I have never wanted my bosses job. To be on a “boss” path means you’ll be managing people. As a 20+ year top performer I have 0 desire to be a manager, director, VP. If you love your work, being a boss is a sure fire way to do less of it, and significantly more paperwork.

Happened to me... stepped into a director role 3+ years ago & about to pivot into solo work again. Realizing I'll always be a leader at my core. But that doesn't mean I always need to hold a leadership title at work.

A job is just a job to me at this point. I no longer want to climb any kind of corporate ladder. I just want stability in something that doesn’t drain me or make me anxious.

Always thought I wanted to be a VP, EVP etc and then I had a child and my priorities really changed. Now I just want to make a comfortable amount of money, and enjoy what I do. I don’t want to be on call 24/7.

Yes this! I also used the mindset that if I don’t respect the leaders I’m working with, I should find somewhere else - I wanted to be sure I was learning leadership skills/styles I would be happy replicating! Means I’m happier working for them and more excited about my future growth
