I mean, instead of the metal drive... they could have just petitioned the Bureau of Reclamation (who "owns" the Dam) for the cost of the metal so the already cast plates could be put onto the dam somewhere.

My freshman class got to take a tour of the dam back in 96. My aunt now lives above the dam. Maybe I should go check it out the next time I visit her.

That’s the neighborhood that I grew up in!!! West Coulee Dam, non rez Coulee or original Coulee!! I loved my childhood there!!! The biggest concrete structure in North America was my playground!! We used to walk across the dam almost everyday in the summer and watch the laser light show!! We had it memorized!! My mom would say “ don’t ruin for the tourists”!!!!
