If you're a left-handed person, using this scriber ( lettering set) is very difficult and will smudge everything.

My dad was an architect. He took great pride in his lettering and looked down his nose at anyone using these. He was definitely old school!

In drafting class (in the 80s) we spent weeks on just freehand lettering. My penmanship to this day is still🔥🔥🔥

I was a trained machine draftsman in the 80’s. Never needed one of these. My printing looked like it came from a typewriter.

is this why my architect dad always wrote in all caps? I don't remember him using this tool but he did write similarly, but freehand.

Used my dad’s set of these in college in 1992-3. We were the last class to do Mylar maps and Leroy lettering tools. Just found my pens yesterday but ink all gone. My prof was actually a student of Prof Hammond. Hammonds World Atlas fame. She said he was a jerk. Cracked me up.

I knew some draftsmen and architects who were working before autoCAD really took off in the 80s, and they had gorgeous penmanship. It was a class they had to take in school. It wasnt just this machine, and while it did help, many could letter drawings free hand with deft skill and accuracy.
