I see the vision but as it’s got holes in it will attract flies (especially fruit ones) as the top of the bin has no lid - and also with the ranging inside utility the damp will also attract them in so you might had to re think

You seriously need a good lid for the food waste, I would recommend a food waste caddy, even overnight it’s going to smell so bad trust me

this is actually ridiculous! either way flies are going to get in during the summer months when they fly around?!?! also don’t keep one for plastic and cans just put it in a recycling box straight away! you should get a proper food waste bin what’s the point in emptying it every day? causing yourself more stress love!! and you couldn’t get a “bin you like” well sorry love but it’s a bin not a bit of decoration ?!?! ITS A BIN you need to get over yourself your a snob.

Could you velcro it to the bottom rather than the side? Or maybe you could use a bungie chord/ zip tie? (I know they arent astetically pleasing but I also have faith you could find something to cover them that is pleasing to the eye. I can’t wait to see it completely finished

idk what people are on about our trash can has never had a lid no flies no smell just take it out 😩 if you have something especially stinky take it directly outside to the cans out there

Use hooks instead? You could glue the hook side to the “bin holder” then glue the loops on the bin. Then you just slot them out to remove them?

Everyone talking about a lid. If you find you do need the bin covered, IKEA sells those size bins with lids. I love the idea because kitchen trash cans are always so ugly

i get what everyone’s saying about smelly bins but honestly even bins with lids smell within a couple days🙃 no need for the negativity i love this idea & you gotta do what’s best for you! Heavily recommend bin buddy it smells so good just to prevent food smells!
