But when he eventually met Umar and asked why he gave such orders, Sayyidina Umar said, "the people were praising you for all our victories and I fear they have forgotten that it was Allah Who grants victories. How will you be able to face Allah if they were praising you instead of Allah ya Khalid?" And Sayyidina Khalid was grateful and thanked Umar, for he had saved him from disgrace as he would have surely felt ashamed before Allah if that were to continue. This is an important lesson even for us.
