Prosecutors said Kise and his girlfriend, Alydia Gater, used $1,750 worth of Xanax as payment to what they believed was a hitman—actually an undercover state police investigator—to target a trial witness, Assistant District Attorney Victoria Porter, and Judge Brian Dennis. The plot was uncovered in April 2024 while Kise awaited sentencing for multiple rape and related charges. Kise, who had already received 35 years for the rape conviction, was given an additional 5–15 years for conspiracy, while Gater received 2–6 years.
