@conservancyswf: Meet the Virginia Opossum - North America’s only marsupial! These fascinating creatures have a special pouch where mothers carry and care for their young. When threatened, opossums are famous for “playing possum,” in other words, pretending to be dead as a clever defense! Being nocturnal, they’re most active at night, quietly helping our ecosystems by eating pests and cleaning up carcasses. Right now, our von Arx Wildlife Hospital is caring for 12 opossums.
