I do believe autism is an evolution in human development because those on the spectrum are using more of their brains and their physiological programming is challenging society’s conformity and definition of “normal”. With all senses heightened and the unique gifts (I.e memory, math, problem solving, etc) that each has, they go beyond “order” and routine. With being blessed with a child, now an adult, on the spectrum and learning to communicate, I have learned that his social challenges are not because something is wrong with him, it is overwhelming with the natural human scents, the perfumes, the environmental noises, flickering of lights, hearing multiple conversations, feeling people’s energies and emotions, etc, puts his body into freeze mode. This is the overstimulation that no one talks about. As a parent, I didn’t suppress his abilities, I taught him and continue teaching him, awareness of his body and finding his own way to organize all of that stimulation. Unfortunately, we have been suppressed for centuries to suppress and follow others definition of “order”. Those civilizations, such as the Egyptians, that honored the body, mind and soul, were buried and in different time frames during their 6k years, empires wanted that history and knowledge forgotten or wiped out.
